                                          Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring for my trip?

We will supply all of the fishing gear needed for your trip.  Things that you may consider

bringing are: hat, sunglasses, rain jacket, clothing appropriate for the weather conditions,

sunscreen and bug spray.  We will have beverages for all trips and for full day wade and float trips,

            we will supply lunch.

What forms should I fill out in advance of the trip?

Please fill out the forms that are emailed to you at the time of reservation and submit them back

to us. These include our pre-trip questionnaire and waiver (signed by each participant).

What type of license do I need?

Most of our wade trips are done locally and you will need an NC fishing license with a trout

permit.  You can purchase either a 10-day or an annual license.  You may purchase an NC                                         fishing license online here. If you are doing a TN Float or wade trip in TN, you will need either

a 3 day or an annual 'all species' fishing license. You can purchase a TN fishing license online here.

What is an appropriate tip for my guide?

Like in any service industry, your should tip based on the service you've experienced. A

typical tip is 20-25%.  Our guides spend most of their "off" time scouting water, tying flies

and getting prepared for trips. They spend far more time preparing for trips, than the actual time

it takes to do a trip. The guides do their best to ensure you have a great trip and they greatly

            appreciate your support.

What type of meals do you serve for full day trips?

We focus our trips on catching fish, not cooking meals.  That being said, we typically have

sandwiches with a couple of sides and dessert.  We will supply water and soft drinks as well.

We will contact each client to see what they would prefer for lunch and to make sure there

are no dietary restrictions.  Cooking a 'stream side' meal takes time off the water... we will

gladly make you a nice meal on the side of the river, but that is less time fishing!

Do you do trips for beginners and/or kids?

Yes, yes, yes.  We do countless trips with folks that have never touched a fly rod and we love

fly fishing with kids.  We will teach you all about it and the guides will coach you every step

of the way.  You can learn as much or as little as you want.  We love seeing the progress of

our clients throughout the day. As for taking your child fly fishing, we have found that almost

always the kids out fish the adults. Kids listen well, are fast learners and no preconceived                                         idea of how to fly fish.   We have found that most children 8 and up are able to pick up the sport

           quickly.

Do we get to keep the fish?

No.  We practice 100% catch and release.  We like to think of the fish as our colleagues and

we want to put them back in the water like they came out...alive and well!  Trout are

very sensitive creatures and you need to handle them properly.  Here is a good article on the

proper handling of these fish to ensure your fish can be caught again.

                                              What is your Cancellation Policy?

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Your credit card will be kept on file. The                                           remaining 50% balance will be drafted 24 hours prior to the day of your trip. Trips cancelled

30 days prior to the date of the trip will receive a full refund. Trips cancelled less than 30 days

prior to the trip date can be rescheduled for the future using the 50% deposit collected for a

future date should your dates need to change. Cancellations of reserved trips less than 7 days

before the trip date will require payment for the full amount of the trip to be forfeited by the

participant. It can be difficult for us to book another trip with that short of notice of a

cancellation. Please understand that our guides rely on these trips for their living and spend

time in preparation for them outside of the date of the trip. Consider trip insurance if you are

very concerned about needing to cancel.

What about Cancellations due to weather?

If we need to cancel due to weather or poor fishing conditions, we will work hard to

reschedule the trip to a mutually agreed upon date, applying the collected deposit of 50% to

            that new date.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept most types of credit cards, cash, or check. We'll need a credit card on file to book

            the trip.

                                                              What is our privacy policy?

We are committed to protecting your personal information and privacy. We do not disclose this

information to anyone else for any reason (unless you give consent or it is compelled by court

order). We do not use cookies for tracking. We will send only newsletter emails or information

regarding sales occasionally, but do not believe in or practice spamming. You will receive

confirmation emails regarding your trip, and a survey upon trip completion which we use to better

our company. We do not share this information with anyone. Should there be changes to our

policy, we reserve the right to change it, but it will be made available to our clients.
